Shelia Rushmore thought she’d be the last woman standing when it was time to fight for her man. Instead Ace, her boyfriend of two years, chose to reunite with his ex-wife, leaving Shelia emotionally devastated. It’s a year later when Sheila is convinced that sneaking into their wedding ceremony will put closure on the gaping hole in her heart.

But it’s on the back pew of the church where a new relationship begins for Shelia. She can’t explain the touch she received from God on that day, but she’s determined to be a better woman-a woman of faith. Since high school, Shelia has been chasing her definition of the good life – it’s left her with no home, no man, and no money. But now that’s she’s living life for God, things should get better, right? Shelia learns that living a faith-filled life isn’t always easy.

With faith, tough love, and some tough decisions, Shelia realizes that the life she’d been praying for she could have for herself is actually attainable. Being wrapped in God’s arms, she decided, was by far the safest place she’d ever been.

Jacquelin Thomas, A Quiet Storm by Pat G’Orge-Walker

    Jacquelin Thomas

Author Jacquelin Thomas dressed in nothing less than the latest designer fashions gracefully walks into a standing room only, Durham, North Carolina bookstore. She is accompanied by her husband Bernard and her son Jonathan and there to sign her latest offering, a fast-paced Bible-based adaptation of the Bible’s resident ‘blinded by love’ strongman, Samson; a modern-day pastor’s dance with earthly desires . . . and the faith that made him whole.

Guided by her need to always let God shine she has already wrapped her spiritual cloak of humility tightly about her even before she arrives at the podium. Those who know her well will attest that she will not wear or accept the title of Literary Diva willingly although her constantly increasing reader base expects it. Even with her vast list of bestselling romance, young adult, Women, and Christian fiction books still in print as well as movie adaptations, a number rivaled perhaps by author Donna Hill, Ms. (Quiet Storm) Thomas seems almost embarrassed by her success.

Before a standing-room-only audience in the Durham, North Carolina bookstore, Ms. Thomas begins to read an excerpt from “Samson.”

    Meet Our Guest Blogger:

    Pat G'Orge Walker

Pat G’Orge (pronounced Gee-or-jay) – Walker is in a league of her own. This accomplished Christian author and comedienne has an amazing mind and talent for turning her observations of church and black church life, in particular, into gems of sidesplitting humor. It is her own special gift from God that enables G’Orge-Walker to depict the often ridiculous antics of church folk. She does it without subverting the Good News or watering down the potency of its message.

Pat G’Orge-Walker has led a colorful life professionally, to say the least. She  is a former record industry veteran who has worked for several major labels including Epic, Def Jam, and Columbia. She also performed with the legendary 60’s girl group, Arlene Smith and the Chantels (“Maybe”) as well as with gospel groups.

In between writing books and spending time with her husband Rob in their Long Island, New York, home, Pat is busy touring the country performing her sold-out one-woman Sister Betty comedy show.
